The easiest way to add dignity to their visit

Effortless integration

Capption weaves lightly into pre-existing operations, requiring minimal up-front lift and casual, infrequent administration thereafter.

Capption adds two small steps to your existing label prep and exhibit signage operation:

  1. Indicator graphic selection. The Capption indicator graphic tells visitors to "hold their phone here." Most often, design teams print the indicator as part of the exhibit wall label, though they can be retrofitted atop existing labels or presented separately. This is fully customizable to match your aesthetic.
  2. Visitor signage. Institutions generally create layers of information — posters, table tents, and how-to materials for the front desk, exhibit entrance, and areas deeper in the exhibit — to let visitors know Capption is available, what it's for, and how to activate it. We'll provide plenty of inspiration material.

We've made this part so easy our most common feedback is "well that was fast!"

  1. Administrator setup. List your authorized content administrators and we'll set up your account. We authenticate against your identity provider — no new password to remember.
  2. Content input. Most label content lives in a PDF or Word doc, so administrators paste that content into Capption and adjust formatting. A 30-piece exhibit takes about 30–45 minutes to input. Bulk upload and integration options are available for larger exhibits.
  3. Media references. Add externally-hosted images, audio, or links at any time.
  4. Review, testing, refinement. Spelling errors, formatting, human translations — there's always something to tweak. Managing Capptions directly from a mobile makes this easy.

  1. Tag encoding. Capption uses Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, similar to tap-to-pay. Tags can be pre-coded by us before delivery, or uncoded and encoded on-site using a straightforward mobile tool. Most small exhibits install faster with uncoded tags; pre-coding creates efficiency at around 50+ labels.
  2. Installing NFC tags. With no wires or hardware to set up, installation is literally as simple as applying a sticker to the back of your label. Tags are included with your subscription. A group of three can match and apply 60 tags in 8 minutes.

  1. Floor staff training. Capption's visitor experience takes seconds to learn, but your team will need a little training to introduce and assist visitors. The key is ensuring everyone knows the differences between the iOS and Android experiences.
  2. Co-promotion. We'll align with your promotional plan and shout your name from the (social media) rooftops! If possible, someone from Capption attends your first look.
